Centennial Year

September 2025—Busy Beginning

Our new club year is underway.

Get the details in our September-October Bulletin.

First General Meeting of the Year
September 17, 7:00 p.m. at Don Umerley Center

  • Please join us as we begin our 100th year with the Reconnect and Register Meeting on September 17 at 7:00 p.m. In the Don Umerley Center of Rocky River.  After light refreshments, socializing, and a brief meeting, we will sign up for our interest groups and receive the 2025-26 handbook/directory.
  • Bring your $30 check made out to CCW for the October 15th luncheon. You may also turn in a scholarship donation.
  • Don’t forget to pick up the 2025-26 Handbook/Directory at the September meeting.

FALL LUNCHEON & OCTOBER GENERAL MEETING

Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at 12:00 -2:00 pm

Emerald Necklace Scenic Valley Room,1500 Cleveland Metro Park Drive, Lakewood, Ohio, 44107

Program: Dave Zeih, retired history teacher, portrays a private in the British army in His Majesty’s 64th Regiment of Foot. He recreates the life and times of a British soldier serving under King George III in the 1770s. He comes dressed in exact reproductions of an original redcoat’s uniform and explains about his uniform, life in the British army at that time, and the origins of some modern-day phrases.

Menu: Wraps Buffet, includes chicken salad croissants, hummus and veggie wraps, potato salad, coleslaw, dessert, lemonade, iced tea, and coffee.

Cost: $30.00

Eight Women Receive Our Scholarships This Spring

 

The eight 2025 awardees were introduced at the Scholarship Luncheon held at Cleveland Yacht Club.  The women received a total of $14,000 in scholarships. The deserving recipients were:

 

 

 

  • Rachel Chapman, pursuing PhD – Urban Education, Ashland Univ.,
  • Katherine (Katie) Barber, pursuing Masters – Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Cleveland State Univ.,
  • Anna Coulter, pursuing MLIS, Kent State Univ.,
  • Tonya Everette, pursuing MSW, Case Western Reserve Univ.,
  • Allyce Rusniak, pursuing Masters  of Information Science in UX Design and Research, Kent State Univ.,
  • Samantha Stombaugh, pursuing PhD in Psychology, Claremont Graduate Univ.,
  • Elena Vairaktarakis, pursuing BSN, Univ. of Akron,
  • Holly Wright-Fletcher, pursuing Masters of Fine Arts/Media Design, Savannah School of Art and Design.

Jenny Dieringer and Linda Beebe, Scholarship Committee Co-Chairs, send their appreciation to all the  CCW members for their sustained support and generous donations that helped the women continue their education. Many may not have been able to attend college without some financial assistance.

        The club year may be over, but lots of fun summer activities are in store during the coming months.

Our 2025-26 Board is hard at work preparing for the new club year that begins in September 2025. Our June board meeting started with a joint meeting of the old and new boards.

Then, Claire Stair, our new president, convened the first meeting of the new board.
